Hooded scarf Crochet pattern

This hooded scarf is worked continuously with no stitching or complications, it is worked using half circle and shaped down into the scarf, it is easy and fairly quick as it uses half double crochet stitch, any beginner can use it.

This hooded scarf has a loose fit, more explanation about the sizing is mentioned below, the width of the scarf on each side will follow how large or thin the scarf would be.

Measurements/ Gauge

82/24 cm for the side scarf

65/33 cm for the hood.

10 cm: 12 sts/9 rows

Medium worsted yarn (4)

Crochet hook: 5.5 mm 

Abbreviations

ch: chain

st: stitch

sts: stitches

dc: double crochet

sc: single crochet

hdc: half double crochet

sl st: slip stitch

Note

For  this pattern I have done 20 rounds increases and 10 rounds shaping of the hood, if you want a smaller hood, and more head coverage, you can reduce the number of increases and add more rounds to the shaping of the hood.

For thinner scarf on each side, you can make a decrease every fifth row till you get the width you like for the scarf.

Ch3

Round 1: 8 hdc in 3rd ch from the hook.

Round 2: ch1, 2 hdc in every st.

Round 3: ch1, hdc in every st.

Round 4: ch1, *2hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st**. Repeat from * to ** till end of the round.

Round 5: ch1, hdc in every st.

Round 6: ch1, *2hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 2 sts**. Repeat from * to ** till end of the round.

Round 7: ch1, hdc in every st.

Round 8: ch1, *2hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 3 sts**. Repeat from * to ** till end of the round.

Round 9: ch1, hdc in every st.

Round 10: ch1, *2hdc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next 4 sts**. Repeat from * to ** till end of the round.

Round 11: ch1, hdc in every st.

Shaping of the scarf 

From the last worked stitch, on the straight side of the half circle 

***Ch1, hdc in every st till the center, you should get 30 sts.

For the next 80 rows.

Join the yarn on the other side of the half circle and repeat the same steps *** .

Fasten off.
