For smaller size reduce the number of rounds in each step by one ( flat circle, rounding, shaping the brim) and for larger add an additional round to the pattern written.

Making of the flat circle 

Ch3

Round 1: 10 dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, join with sl st to 1st dc.

Round 2: ch2, 2 dc in every st. Join.

Round 3: ch2, *2 dc in 1st st, **1 dc in next st. Repeat from *to ** till end of the round, join.

Round 4: ch2, *2 dc in 1st st, **1 dc in next 2 sts. Repeat from *to ** till end of the round, join.

Round 5: ch2, *2 dc in 1st st, **1 dc in next 3 sts. Repeat from *to ** till end of the round, join.

Round 6: ch2, *2 dc in 1st st, **1 dc in next 4 sts. Repeat from *to ** till end of the round, join.

Shaping the beanie

Round 7 to 11: ch2, dc in every st. Join.

 Shaping the brim

Turn the beanie to face you ( from the last st), work will be backward, working only in the backloop.

Round 12: ch2, 2 dc in 1st st, 1 dc in next 3 sts. Repeat from *to ** till the end of the round. Join.

Working in the st, not backloop.

Round 13 to 16: ch 2, dc in every st. Fasten off.
