How to crochet your first basic raglan sweater


 






 

Basic raglan sweater Crochet pattern



Measurements/ Gauge

63/49 cm

Neck: 

Shoulders: 58 cm

Arms: 17 cm

Waist: 49 cm

10 cm: 13 sts/9 rows


Materials

Medium worsted yarn (4) acrylic 

5 skeins of 100 gr.

Crochet hook: 5.5 mm

ch: chain

st: stitch

sts: stitches

dc: double crochet

sc: single crochet

hdc: half double crochet

sl st: slip stitch

Fphdc: front post half double crochet 

2 fphdctog: front post half double crochet together.


Written Pattern


Ch60, join the 2 ends to form a circle 


Round 1: ch2, dc in every st, join to the top 1st dc with a sl st.


Round 2, 3: ch1, fpdc in every st, join with a sl st.


Round 4: ch1, 2 hdc in every st, join.


From the joining point, place a st marker in the 1st st, count 20 sts from st marker, place 2nd st marker on the 20th st, count 40 sts, place a st marker after the 40th st, count 20 sts, place a st marker on the 20th st, you have all 4 divisions ready.


Round 5 to 24: ch1, *2 hdc on top of the st marker, hdc in every st till next st marker**. Repeat from * to ** till the end of the round.


Round 25: from the joined point, attach the opposite increase st with a sl st, the 1st arm is now separate, work one hdc in every st till the next increase, once there repeat the joining as done before, now both arm spaces are separate, working around the body, hdc in every st for the next 24 rounds or until required length. Fasten off.


Working each arm separately 


Join the yarn where the last sl st was, ch 1, hdc in every st, join at the end of the round with a sl st.

For the next 30 rounds: ch1, hdc in every st, join.


Repeat the same process for the second arm.


Closing the collar 


Place a st marker in any st of the upper collar, count 15 sts and place a st marker on the 15th st, repeat twice more, you should have 4 separation.

In 1st st marker, join the yarn, ch 1, 2 fphdctog in 1st 2sts, fpdc in every st till next st marker, repeat from * to ** till end of the round.


Repeat the last round 1 more time. Fasten off.
